Selfridges (The Beauty Project) | Change is a Beautiful Thing
Selfridges is a chain of high end department stores in the United Kingdom. The flagship store on London’s Oxford Street is the second largest shop in the UK. Selfridges have partnered with big brands to launch their biggest ever beauty campaign, The Beauty Project – set to redefine the face of beauty, a six week campaign to explore the modern definition of beauty involving interactive discussions, workshops and treatments.
What does beauty look like after eighty? From keeping your thoughts young to facial aerobics, five older women discuss what beauty means to them
The first of four films commissioned by Selfridges for The Beauty Project focuses on how older women view beauty. It features five women each of whom still possess a charm, style and grace that contradicts the view that beauty somehow belongs to the young. The film explores their understanding of beauty and doesn’t shy away from some of the uncertainties that women face about their physical attractiveness. These remarkable women embrace ageing with humour, energy and a conviction that beauty comes from within.
Del was responsible for choreographing & directing the cast of ladies in facial aerobics and in the gym exercise scenes.
The film has been nominated for Best DIScONNECT™ Fashion Film by Fashion magazine as part of the DIScONNECT™ Fashion Film Festival and will be revealed at Toronto’s Fashion Week Awards.
