In Real Life (IRL) is the winning American boy band from ABC’s reality television music competition series Boy Band hosted by Rita Ora, and judged “architects” Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, the Spice Girls’ Emma Bunton, and Timbaland. IRL is composed of Brady Tutton, Chance Perez, Drew Ramos, Sergio Calderon, and Michael Conor.
‘Tattoo’ is the highly anticipated second single of the iHeart Radio Award nominated ‘Best Boy Band’ IRL. On steadicam, the video is shot in and around downtown Los Angeles and follows the band members individually and collectively as they move through each deteriorating environment, at times performing to camera, at times off-camera, and at times directly to a beautiful young woman.
Del worked closely with the band and the lead female to movement direct their performances, to allow each band members’ individual personality, charisma and body language to shine through naturally as they take turns chasing a girl through the different urban locations.
To enable a stylised edit, sequences were designed in each location so each of the band’s performances, individually or as a group, intercut and interweave with one another as each section of the track progresses. The result is a fun dynamic video that allows each band member to share the spotlight and through their journey, let the audience discover who they are.
