Sibos 2019 London | Opening Plenary

Sibos is the world’s premier financial services event.

Held annually in a different global city every year, the conference and exhibition connects over 8,000 executives, decision makers and thought leaders, 600 speakers, 200+ exhibitors and 100+ fintechs from across the industry.

For 2019 the 4 day event was held in London for the 1st time at the ExCeL International Convention Centre.

This year’s conference theme – thriving in a hyper-connected world – recognises the challenges and opportunities that mass digitisation and data-driven relationships present for the Sibos community.

For the first time a 2 minute opening live performance sequence was created for the Opening Plenary. With London being the home of Sibos in 2019, the performance would draw on the city’s theatrical culture. The use of 2 dancers, mixed media in the form of high end motion graphics on a 20m wide LED wall and a kinetic lighting rig, as well as original music composition/sound design were all incorporated into the performance.

Del was specifically requested to choreograph for the Opening Plenary performance working alongside the Creative Director, screen content designers and music composers as part of the production process, to develop interactive dance choreography that conveyed the narrative of communication and hyper-connectivity. The performance features 2 dancers communicating with each other through movement via the kinetic light rig or their interactions with the screen motion graphics.

The performance was dedicated to the late British composer Jonathan Goldstein who started creating the musical score with his team at Goldstein Music but was sadly never able to see the completion of the project.
